Travel 2018: Sinulog and more!

Prititit! Pit Senyor!
Sinulog is one of the grandest festivals in the Philippines. Aside from the Cebuanos, a lot of tourists flock to Cebu City every third weekend of January to celebrate the event. The whole Sinulog Festival is held to commemorate the acceptance of Christianity and to honor Sto. Niño.
Just last week, I went to Cebu to witness the Sinulog Grand Parade. The extravagant costumes and energetic performances of each dance groups were scene-stealers but what awed me most is the devotion of each participant to dance and walk for the whole day under the scorching heat of the sun and even under the periodic rainfalls.
During the latter part of the day, some of them looked pretty tired already but once they hear the beat of the drums again, everyone smiles and dances gracefully as if they are not exhausted at all.
Just some tips if you want a good spot during the Grand Parade:
- If you want to take good or near-range pictures, be there early. We found a good spot along Mango during the parade.
- Bring food and water as it is a whole day event.
- Be ready for a walkathon. A big part of Cebu city is closed for the festival during the parade. The only way you can get around is to walk.
- And lastly, do not forget the main purpose of the festival. I know most of the younger crowd are in Sinulog for the booze and back-to-back parties. But, let us not forget to pay respect to the religion and tradition of the Cebuanos.

Sinulog Parties and Music Festivals
During the whole Sinulog festival there are a lot of parties, concerts and music festivals around Cebu. It's up to you where you wanna be. Most famous ones this year are LifeDance and Plus63 Music Festival. My friends and I enjoyed the parties in smaller clubs like Liv Super Club in Mandaue.

Lechon Hunting
Of course, Cebu trip will never be complete without some food trip and lechon hunting. The best lechon for me is Zubuchon's Original Lechon.
You can never get enough of this mouth-watering treat. And good news for people in Manila! Zubuchon already opened branches in Makati and SM Megamall. For exact branch locations, click here.

10,000 Roses Cafe & More
And of course, I didn't miss the change to visit this cafe that is currently creating a buzz on social media because of they're Instagram ready location. All those white roses are perfect for your snaps!
Location: Barangay Day-as in Cordova, Cebu  | Entrace/Environmental Fee: PHP20 per pax
