Travel 2015: Minalungao Adventures

Ready for some nature tripping?

How to get there

From Cubao, take a bus bound for Cabanatuan City. Tell the conductor to drop you off at Gapan (Bucana), Nueva Ecija. Travel time is around 2 hours and fare is PHP150. From the drop off point, there are tricycles which you can hire going straight to Minalungao National Park. Travel time is around one and a half hour and tricycle fare is around PHP500-800.

Notes:
* You can ask the driver to take you to the public markets in Gapan or General Tinio (Papaya), if you want a quick stop to eat breakfast or to buy some stuff you need for the trip.
* The road going to the park is unpaved and rocky so the tricycle ride might be quite butt aching.

Here are the rates inside the park:

Exploring Minalungao National Park

There are various activities you can do in Minalungao like swimming, hiking, camping, spelunking, raft riding and cliff diving. If you want to maximize your trip, be there as early as you can.

Here are some of the activities that our group enjoyed in the park:

We visited the Cross at the summit of Minalungao. It was a 30-minute hike going up the 1000-step stairs. The view on top was amazing as it is overlooking the province of Nueva Ecija and the Sierra Madre mountain range.

We explored Minalungao cave. It was very dark inside the cave and we did not have head gears and flashlights with us so we were not able to get to the end of the cave. We just had a quick 15-20 minute tour inside.

Notes:
* If you really want to explore the whole cave, it will take you around 2-3 hours.
* Be sure to hire a guide to be safe and for you not to get lost inside.

Lastly, after lunch, we hired a raft and spent the rest of the day relaxing and swimming in the river while admiring the breathtaking view. The pride of Minalungao National Park is the marvelous limestone formation bordering the calm and pristine river. We were awed by nature and its wonders!

It was a day full of activities and adventure!

This trip was extra fun and special because I get to spend the day with these lovely crazies. I love you K21ng! To more exciting trips together! :)

  1. Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience in Minalungao. Its discovery by many people from various provinces in the Philippines through social media will erase the impression, "Nueva Ecija has nothing to offer but rice fields."
