How to get there

Take a bus bound to Nasugbu, Batangas from the terminal in Coastal Mall. Tell the conductor to drop you off at Sitio Bayabasan in Brgy Aga. It is more commonly known as Kilometer 83 (near the Bayabasan Elementary School). You will already see the registration area once you reached the drop off point.

The trail

Mt Talamitam is named after talamitam trees which used to grow on the mountain. Rising to a height of around 630 meters above sea level, Mt Talamitam's trail has been the easiest hike I have experienced so far. The trail with its minor ascends and descends is perfect for beginners.

The trail going to the summit has two portions. The first part is the forested area from the registration point in Sitio Bayabasan. It is covered by tall trees with no major ascend.

The second part of the trail is the open grassland. It stretches from the end of the forest up to the summit. From here you can already see Mt Talamitam's peak. As you can notice, there is only a few shade once you've reached this area so be ready for the heat of the sun. Bring a lot of water.

The final assault is the most challenging part of the trail. But, if you have been to other mountains, it will just be a piece of cake for you.

And finally, reaching the summit would always be most fulfilling of all. Mt Talamitam's peak will give you a 360-degree view of Nasugbu and its neighboring towns. In the western part of the summit, you will see the notable peak of Mt Palay-Palay. On the other side, you will notice the majestic slopes of Mt Batulao and Mt Makiling.

Chill hike. Fresh air. Enchanting view. Indeed, Mt Talamitam is the easiest escape from the hustle and bustle of the city!

Notes:
 - Guides are required but you can negotiate (especially if you have been there before) so they can let you trek without one
 - There are a lot of trails going back and forth the summit which is why guides are important. You may easily get lost if you are a first timer or a beginner.
 - There is no fixed rate for guide fee but minimum is 300pesos
 - If you want a side trip, you may ask your guide to take you to Layong Bato. It is a part of the Galo River where you can take a dip and relax before going home
 - Registration fee is 40pesos
 - There are available restrooms at the regustration area where you can take a quick bath after the hike
