Hooray for my first water tubing adventure!


Last June 2016, my friends and I explored the administrative region of SOCCSKSARGEN in Mindanao. We were supposed to visit Lake Holon as part of our itinerary but it was raining hard all around the region so we decided not to push through the overnight hike. Having one free day, we searched for other activities we could do or places we could visit. And this is how we end up in the town of Maitum, Sarangani for some wet and wild fun!

How to get there



After checking out from our hotel in General Santos City, our group hired a tricycle that took us to the terminal of Maitum-bound vans. Fare is PHP150.00 and travel time is around 2.5 to 3 hours. From the unloading point, we took a tricycle that took us to the NLU White Water Tubing Eco Park. Fare is PHP 100.00 (back and forth) per person and travel time is around 30 minutes.

White water tubing has the same concept as that of white water rafting. Only that, instead of a raft, you will be riding a make shift salbabida especially designed for this kind of activity. You are not required to paddle, because a guide will maneuver the whole course for you. All you have to do is grip tight and enjoy the ride!


And when I say grip tight, you have to really really GRIP TIGHT! The rapids during our visit were very strong that one moment you are on the surface and then after a while you'll find yourself almost drowning to the rush of the river.


I almost lost my voice because of screaming out of too much excitement. Definitely a memorable first time! Our group had so much fun in this unplanned adventure!
