Travel 2016: Sarangani: Isla Jardin, Gumasa Beach

Rainy days won't stop us from beachin'.

Gumasa Beach is one of Sarangani's pride beaches. It is a popular beach destination in the southern part of Mindanao and it is often referred to as "The Small Boracay of Mindanao".

How to get there

From General Santos City, there is a terminal of vans bound for Glan, Saranggani. The fare is around PHP85 and travel time is almost an hour. Tell the driver that you are going to Gumasa Beach so he can alight you the the correct drop off point. From the drop off point in Glan, there are tricycles that can take you to the resorts in Gumasa. Fare will depend on how far your resort is but it is usually around PHP50 to PHP100.

Where to stay

Our group stayed at Isla Jardin Del Mar Resort. We were on a budget trip so we chose the Villa which is a kubo type accommodation good for four pax. It is a basic fan room with two beds and a bathroom. For PHP1300, I could say that it was a good deal as our overnight stay was very comfortable.

The Beach

It was a rainy afternoon when we arrived at Isla Jardin. Our group decided to eat early dinner and rest for the day since we got tired from our white water tubing adventure earlier that day.

When we woke up during the morning, it was a bit cloudy but at least it wasn't raining anymore. We had the chance to explore and swim in the beach.

Isla Jardin is a 34-hectare property that is situated in front of Gumasa's white beach. I have been to a lot of beaches but every time I visit a different beach, there are still something about it that awes me.

There were few tourists during our stay in Gumasa so the beach it not crowded. It was very quiet and peaceful. It was a perfect moment to relax and unwind. Aside from the beach, what amazed me more is the lagoon in Isla Jardin. It is the perfect place for serenity.
