Travel 2020: Berlin

Berlin is liiit!🙌

I was in East Berlin last February to attend a party. I've always wanted to experience Berlin's nightlife so when I got invited, I said yes right away! And, it did not disappoint! Partying in Berlin was insaneee! 😜
I also had a day to go around the city and here are the few places I got to visit.
East Side Gallery
We started the day by walking along the Berlin wall which is just a block away from our hotel. Berlin's history is very riveting. East and West Germany were completely separated from each other during the Cold War. This wall being a witness of the gruesome events during that time is a big part of German history.
Now that most of the wall has already been taken down, the part that remained is today's top famous destination in Berlin. The East Side Gallery is covered with all kinds of paintings from different artists around the world.
Berlin's Ampelmännchen
Walking around Berlin, the "little traffic light man" is hard to miss. It is the hatted man symbol displayed in the pedestrian lights around the city. The Ampelmännchen which is another product of communist East Germany is now one of Berlin's iconic symbol.
Brandenburg Gate
After eating a good curry wurst (which is by the way one thing you should eat when you're in Berlin), we headed to the Bradenburg Gate. It is the only surviving city gate in Berlin which offers interesting insights to the city's history.
Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe
The last stop of our quick city tour is the Holocaust Memorial. It is a memorial to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust designed by architect Peter Eisenman and engineer Buro Happold.
The entrance to the memorial is free. Inside the memorial are different documentation about the stories of the individuals and families who died during the Holocaust.

Honestly, I wish I had more time in Berlin. But, hey, that's a reason to go back, right? 😊
