Tequilas and tacos, FTW!
Personally, I chose to add surfing to my itinerary. I booked a private surf tour through Cabo Surf Tours. My local guide took me to Nine Palms which is an off-the-beaten-path surf destination an hour away from Cabo’s town center. Stoked!
Oh wow! It has been two years since I've posted here. Where did time go? Let's blame it to life, right? :P
But seriously, between moving out of the Philippines and starting a new life in the US, I just had so little time to edit pictures and write. Things are getting steady now which only means I'm back, baby! I might post about other trips I did these past years but, for now, let me tell you about Cabo San Lucas.
How to get there?
Cabo San Lucas is in the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula. It is one of the most famous beach destinations in Mexico.Cabo San Lucas International Airport is a two-hour flight from Los Angeles. From the airport, we took a 45-minute ride to the resort.
There are a lot of choices when it comes to accommodation in Cabo. I guess, it just depends on your budget and preference. For this trip, we stayed at Solmar’s Resort and here’s my honest review:
Where to stay?
Pros: Location is very accessible -- near the Marina and tourist shops and restaurants. Beachfront. View is great. Helpful and friendly staff.
Cons: Rooms are a little outdated. If you are looking for a party hotel, this is not the resort for you. The hotel is a bit lowkey, more for families or people looking for a peaceful stay.
What to do?
Cabo San Lucas is such a touristic destination that you will not run out of touristy things to do.
If you are down to join tours, you can take the Glass Bottom Boat for a start. The tour takes less than an hour and the boat will take you out of the marina to see the famous rock formations around the island. You can also go for a cruise tour, a pirate show, a whale watching tour, or a sunrise/sunset tour out in the ocean. There are also ATVs, city tours, and camel riding for land activities.
If you are in Cabo, you will surely stumble upon the Marina. Check out the cruise and boats parked around, buy some souvenirs from the local stores and fill your tummy with good food from the restaurants along the walk.
Looking for water activities? There’s so much to choose from! Snorkeling, parasailing, and diving to name a few.

And of course, if you feel like you just wanna chill, nobody’s gonna stop you from beach bumming!
Whatever you choose to do in Cabo, never forget to have some tacos and tequilas!
Travel tips:
- Beware of scammers offering transportation at the airport, they might charge you double. Book a car/taxi ahead.
- You can book Uber rides around the island. However, Ubers are not allowed to pick up from the airport.
- US Dollars are acceptable everywhere in Cabo but you might get cheaper rates if you pay in Mexican Peso.
- If withdrawing money, take note of the sign on the machine (US Dollars vs Mexican Peso).
