Joshua Tree National Park
Located in Southern California, Joshua Tree National Park is a vast desert famous for its rock formation, desert landscape and wide range of flora and fauna. This park is perfect if you are looking for outdoor activities, like camping, hiking and rock climbing.
How To Get There
The best way to reach Joshua Tree is via car. It is around a 3-hour drive (depending on traffic) from Los Angeles.
Another option is to get a bus from LA to Palm Springs. From there, you can try to look for travel agencies offering a Joshua Tree Tour.
What to do
With a total of approximately 790,000 acres of wilderness, there are a lot of things to do in the park. It would depend on the time you have and the type of activities you enjoy. You can visit their site for more information on the activities: https://www.nps.gov/jotr/index.htm.
As for our group, we chose to enter through the West Entrance. From there, we drove a little more inside the park before we parked the car.
We got off the car with our picnic bag and followed one of the established trails until we don't see the road anymore. Then, we chose a big boulder to climb so we can overlook the desert.
We shared the sandwiches and some chips we bought outside and just enjoyed the sun while admiring the desert view.
